Position Summary

In 2012, a development group approached The Gettys Group Companies with a proposal for a new kind of engagement: to leverage our hotel design agency’s expertise, high-level industry relationships, and talent for creating differentiation through design for the fast-growing select-service hotel sector.

Over the next year, we carefully adapted our design, approval and documentation processes to deliver the time and budgetary efficiencies demanded by select-service hotel development, creating an entirely new breed of design offering for the sector: consultative, professional, expert.

The Senior Project Designer designs, manages and performs within a design team in a self-directed manner in all aspects of the Interior Design process including preparation of materials, schematic design, design development, contract documentation, and construction of administration activities within an established budget with specific scheduling, site and programmatic requirements. Senior Project Designers lead design scope on entire projects in conjunction with the team leadership.

 

 

Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Advanced experience with construction materials / finishes and FF&E specifications/providers
  • Advanced experience in project design specifications, construction documentation and construction administration, including shop drawing review
  • Advanced graphic and presentation skills in AutoCAD (current release preferred), InDesign, Photoshop and SketchUp
  • Advanced knowledge in specification writing (SPEXX experience preferred)
  • Advanced understanding and knowledge of design principals, theories, color and materials
  • Manage Quality Control exercises for project team
  • Able to manage and complete project tasks in accordance with project schedules
  • Advanced experience in managing and leading successful projects and/or teams
  • Advanced understanding of hotel brand structures, standards and requirements
  • Advanced experience working with project budgets
  • Provide design direction in accordance with brand-specific standards and guidelines
  • Direct project team to produce design documents that meet brands’ submittal standards
  • Assist in maintaining departmental documentation and standards
  • Advanced project management ability to plan and oversee project tasks in accordance with contract and project fee

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Interior Design or Architecture from a CIDA-accredited or NAAB-accredited program
  • Minimum 8 years of post-graduate professional Design experience, preferably within the hospitality industry
  • Strong design portfolio required
