Production Designer

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Branding, the Production Designer is responsible for partnering with the rest of the creative team for the development and execution of creative concepts and executions to support The Gettys Group client projects.

The Production Designer is a key member of the creative team. They are accountable for the development of design assets, and the creation of final production-ready files for all print and digital deliverables. They play a critical role in educating the team, helping to create best practices for executing the work—all with an understanding of timeline, budget and quality.

The Production Designer possesses a deep understanding of print and digital production. They play an active role in partnering with other designers on the team to deliver fresh and innovative solutions. They are comfortable explaining their ideas, have an eye for detail and possess the ability to understand and translate stakeholders’ business needs into beautiful and workable solutions.

The Production Designer combines strong creative, organizational, communication and technical skills to provide solutions that deliver against the brand vision for all of The Gettys Group Branding projects.

Position Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Director and other Designers to conceptualize, design and execute a variety of print collateral and digital materials
  • Apply and extend established brand identity systems, maintaining the integrity of a brand’s visual style while finding new and exciting ways to expand the use of existing design elements such as color, typography, photography and patterns
  • Photo retouching, image editing and color management
  • Set up final artwork for print (resolution, size, colors, appropriate file type, fonts, packaging, bleed, crop marks, etc.)
  • Assist in the hand-off of digital design assets to developers and print files to print vendors
  • Provide quality assurance of all creative deliverables to help elevate the creative level of the work coming out of the company
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines
  • Work with budgets and within tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Attend creative input sessions, client presentations, regular status updates and any and all meetings needed on a per project basis
  • Maintain a high standard of design quality and professionalism

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BFA) from a four-year accredited college or university in Fine Arts or Graphic Design/Visual Communications
  • 3+ years of industry or agency experience
  • Working knowledge of Prepress concepts such as imposition, color separation, trapping, preflight and PDF workflow
  • Strong understanding of Pantone, CMYK, RGB and HEX color spaces
  • Photography/Photo Retouching and color correction experience
  • Strong typographical and layout skills, solid knowledge of printing process and ability to prepare press-ready and digital files for release
  • Self-motivated, organized and accountable
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, dynamic, open, collaborative environment while remaining open to change and suggestions
  • Detail- and process-oriented, with the ability to work efficiently on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to approach projects with flexibility and resourcefulness
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and comfort communicating both internally and with clients
  • Passion for design and eagerness to elevate other creative people
  • Web background, including a working knowledge of HTML and CSS a definite plus
  • Experience with motion design and video editing a plus
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Software: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint and Word
