Designer II, Gettys ONE

Position Summary

In 2012, a development group approached The Gettys Group Companies with a proposal for a new kind of engagement: to leverage our hotel design agency’s expertise, high-level industry relationships, and talent for creating differentiation through design for the fast-growing select-service hotel sector.

Over the next year, we carefully adapted our design, approval and documentation processes to deliver the time and budgetary efficiencies demanded by select-service hotel development, creating an entirely new breed of design offering for the sector: consultative, professional, expert.

Since then, our unmatched experience has earned us the respect of the sector’s best-known brands and most successful developers, who have turned to us for hundreds of projects across the country over the past 9 years.

With guidance, the Designer II performs in a self-directed manner all aspects of the Interior Design process including preparation of materials, schematic design, design development, contract documentation, and construction of administration activities within an established budget with specific scheduling, site and programmatic requirements. The Designer II supports parts of or an entire project depending on scope in conjunction with Team Leadership.




Job Requirements

  • Intermediate experience with construction materials / finishes and FF&E specifications/providers

  • Intermediate experience in project design specifications, construction documentation and shop drawing review

  • Intermediate graphic skills in AutoCAD (current release preferred), InDesign, Photoshop and SketchUp

  • Intermediate understanding of specification writing (SPEXX experience preferred)

  • Intermediate understanding of design principals, theories, color and materials

  • Perform Quality Control exercises on one’s own work

  • Able to complete project tasks in accordance with project schedules

  • Understanding of hotel brand structures

  • Complete comprehensive project tasks efficiently in a prescribed time frame with moderate feedback / redlines from team leadership

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Interior Design or Architecture from a CIDA-accredited or NAAB-accredited program

  • Minimum 2 years of post-graduate professional Design experience, preferably within the hospitality industry

  • Strong design portfolio required
