Sheraton Santo DomingoSanto Domingo, Dominican Republic
We are connoisseurs of the Caribbean. Sun, sand, and sea are words that come to mind when thinking of the islands. For us, so are closing the deal and agreements done with a handshake. Gettys’ design in the heart of the Dominican Republic’s business district helped herald Sheraton’s return to Santo Domingo.
The Gettys Approach
We cleverly transformed the existing property into a new and completely unexpected experience. The long-held custom of families gathering to play games was not lost on us. In addition to the works created by the area’s artisans reflecting this tradition, we added large-scale board games such as Jenga and Scrabble to the newly transformed spaces.
Neutral off whites and tans married with navy and plum accents resulted in a palette representative of the eclectic regional art, music, and literature. Terrazzo flooring and reclaimed wood elements welcome guests whether it is for a meeting or to catch up on the latest gossip with an old friend in one of the numerous food and beverage outlets. Either way, the design is much like the local culture, vibrant.
