SENIOR PROJECT DESIGNER
OFFICE: MIAMI

Job Summary: Work closely with Principal-in-Charge in leading project team members to successfully complete projects, consisting of Architecture, Interior Design and in some cases, Purchasing.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts, Science or Design in Interior Design
  • Associates of Arts in Interior Design with 2 years additional professional experience
  • All degrees must come from a FIDER Accredited 3-5 year program
  • NCIDQ registration preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 8-10 years related experience; preferably licensed or registered

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Generally involved with larger more complex projects and assignments
  • May function as the Principal-in-Charge on certain projects or on projects of limited scope
  • Able to apply diversified knowledge of design principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields
  • Work under the direction of the Principal-in-Charge
  • Meet regularly with the Principal-in0Charge to obtain concurrence on major issues, discuss solutions to problems and set strategies
  • Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate the interior design scope of services
  • Responsible for verifying or establishing FF&A budgets for Gettys' scope of services and updating information as required
  • Manage the Gettys' project team (and in certain cases, the overall project team) including Gettys' Interior Design and Architectural staff, the client's Project Manager, coordination with the Architect of Record, if it is not Gettys, Gettys' Purchasing staff or outside purchasing staff, and other outside consultants or sub-consultants
  • Coordinate technical support required for project and detailed review as it relates to code, zoning and engineering requirements with Project Architect
  • Lead quality assurance for the project, and assure that the department standards are utilized
  • Primary documenter, memo writer, letter writer and keeper of the project files
  • Establish and maintain project staff at sufficient levels to perform required tasks and meet required fee budgets and schedules
  • Provide primary quality control for all deliverables assigned to Gettys and sub-consultants of Gettys
  • Accurately predict manpower needs and report to Studio Director
  • Expeditiously review and process billing and other project accounting
  • Identify additional services, review with Principal-in-Charge and process accordingly
  • Participate in marketing and sales effort and participate in early client contact when requested
  • Become the primary contact with the client's Project Manager
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, letters of intent, letters of agreement and contracts
  • Along with the Principal-in-Charge, be responsible for Gettys' profitability on the project
  • Along with the Principal-in-Charge, be responsible for collection of payments
  • Display exceptional written communication skills in preparing reports, correspondence and proposals
  • Display strong desire to act as mentor and demonstrate good mentoring skills
  • Provide realistic and fair performance appraisals to team members
  • Assist Leadership group in identifying and interviewing prospective team members
  • Prepare all contractual documents required by the project related to any additional services
  • Perform any Construction Administration services that are related to the Interior Design scope of work for the project

PROJECT DESIGNER
OFFICE: HONG KONG

Job Summary: We are currently seeking an experienced Architect for coordination of high-end hospitality projects.

Job Description:

Working closely with the Principal-In-Charge, the Project Architect will coordinate the refinement of the total design for Interior Architecture and FF&E. In addition this person will prepare project deliverables (design and contract documents), construction administration, technical coordination and coordination of specified materials with our procurement partner. Candidates should have at least 5 years post graduate experience with reputable interior design firm and have relevant site experience in medium to large size commercial or hospitality projects. He/she should be conversant in Chinese and English and have relevant university or college qualification in interior design.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Answer RFI's either in Chinese or English
  • Attend regular site meetings
  • Serve as liason between the Gettys design team, our client and sub-contractors
  • Resolve minor design details and construction details raised by our contractors and their sub-contractors
  • Coordinate mechanical and engineering plans and other building works
  • Co-ordination of fire protection codes according to IBC

WEB CONTENT MANAGER (PAID INTERNSHIP)
OFFICE: CHICAGO

Job Description:

We are looking for a creative and talented individual with skills in web content management, editing for the web, graphic design and site management. Together, we will launch an interactive website that supports our "Hotel of Tomorrow" initiative. By partnering with our web design consultants, you will learn how to manage and upload content to this emerging site. This position will allow you to gain knowledge and real-world experience in the hospitality design industry.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Gathering and managing web content from in-house design experts and public submittals.
  • Monitor web and relevant media for content and upload
  • Design and upload content relating to meetings, conferences, and presenters
  • Manage site sponsorship (advertising) requests and content
  • Manage, expand and improve Blog area
  • Manage RSS feeds and subscription lists

Job Qualification Requirements:

  • PC/Mac skills in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Web knowledge and experience in HTML, Flash, etc.
  • Familiarity with web design and information architecture
  • Familiarity with best practices and trends in web design
  • Strong desire to learn, communicate and grow

This internship will run from mid-May through mid-August (we can work it out if schedule needs to shift a bit).
