GETTYS UNVEILS FIVE-STAR LUXURY OASIS FOR STARWOOD'S UPSCALE LIFESTYLE BRAND

Gettys has unveiled its plans for the interiors of a new golf and spa resort currently being developed in Abu Dhabi. The Westin Hotel is located at the heart of the development, which features one of the Middle East's most distinguished golf courses, The Abu Dhabi Golf Club currently undergoing major refurbishment. The hotel incorporates 146 guestrooms and suites, a luxury spa and wellness centre, five food and beverage outlets, and a state-of-the-art conference centre. Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), one of the leading tourism asset groups in Abi Dhabi, owns the hotel which had been designed by Chicago's GREC Architects to work in harmony with its surroundings. Gettys' interior design is contemporary, with bold, clean lines, and organic finishes such as naturally hewn limestone, bronze, travertine, rustic walnut, teak, and hand cast glass. Comfortable and stylish furnishings complement the finishes in relaxed earthy jewel tones accented by texture and lustre for a soothing and sophisticated colour palette. The light filtered two-storey lobby features world-class art, dancing water features, and a stunning vista to the surrounding golf terrain. The views can also be enjoyed from guestroom balconies. A range of indoor and outdoor fine dining outlets include a European-style lobby level cafe, a Mediterranean-inspired all-day dining restaurant, a Moroccan-themed specialty restaurant, and a sports bar. Facilities on offer at the TDIC-branded Wellness Centre ‘The Workout Room' include a gym, an indoor climbing wall, courts and a tennis academy. The spa will feature ten treatment rooms, a steam room, sauna and plunge pools. Gettys has also provided the interior design for the Golf Academy, a Troon Professional training and retail facility. A second phase will see the development of a residential community skirting the golf course. The Westin Hotel, Golf & Spa is expected to complete in May 2010.
